Also know as the Battle Fields American Legion, Post 144 200+ Members, including the Sons of Legion, Ladies Auxiliary, and Legion Riders. All these groups meet here for a variety of outings and events. American Legion Battlefields Post 144 promotes the principles and policies set forth in the Constitutions of the American Legion and the Department of Virginia.

The American Legion chartered Battlefields Post 144 in 1934. At that time, local veterans organized the Post and built the first Post Home, a log cabin, on land that today is a local ball field. In the 1970s, the Post acquired the land and built our current Post Home by Old Hanover Road amidst field fortifications constructed during the American Civil War.

Tradition & Service: Over 200 veterans of our nations conflicts in the 20th century, from World War II through to the Global War on Terror, continue the Legion's traditions of service to veterans, their families, and their community, state, and nation.The Legion Supports and/or Sponsors:Boy Scouts, July 4th Community Day, Labor Day Brunswick Stew, Boys State and Girls State (programs that teach students about our U.S. government).
